The output pane is the pane which holds all of the database and search outputs you generate using SatQuery.
When you first run SatQuery, the output pane will be empty and you will be prompted whether you want to add database files manually or for SatQuery to search for them for you.
Below is an example showing a typical output pane after SatQuery has searched for compatible database files and added them for you.

The output pane can hold folders as seen in the example above. Folders can contain both database files and other folders. You should use folders to organise your database files.
Whenever you wish to perform a search on a database, you must first select the database you wish to perform the search on from the output pane.
The menu item 'Output' holds most of the commands applicable to the output pane. This menu can also be reached by right clicking on an item in the output pane.
