C/I Calculation

The C/I Interference Analysis Tool calculates C/I and Margin values for any input set of carriers. These carriers and other necessary values can be input manually or retrieved from the database browsing part of Sat-Coord. The easiest method however is using the MSMI feature of Sat-Coord. • Let us assume we wish to perform C/I calculations in the C-Band between a network pair for an upcoming coordination meeting. Let us assume one network is the United Kingdom network AGRANI-2 (52E) and the other network is the Russian network ROSCOM-4 (49E). Firstly we produce an MSMI report on each of the networks using the MSMI feature of Sat-Coord. This will give us the list of most sensitive and most interfering carriers from each of AGRANI-2 and KUPON-1T and all of the other necessary parameters. The output from these MSMI reports can be seen below:

• The carriers identified above and the network parameters can then be input into the C/I Interference Analysis Tool. This allows us to calculate C/N, C/I and margin values based on the carrier data. Below the results of the uplink analysis is shown:

• Items which are red indicate negative margin, and these areas can be worked on in a coordination meeting to try and solve the problems found. Parameters can be changed and recalculation is completed real-time allowing for solutions to be found quickly.
